Bowman Sustainable Land Development
uring the 2024–25 academic year, the Bowman Sustainable Land Development Program thrived across undergraduate, graduate and professional programs. Ten undergraduate courses enrolled more than 400 students, supported by extensive practitioner involvement. More than 40 professionals from 17 firms mentored senior design students in CEE 4274, while 39 professionals from 19 firms guided sustainable land development projects in CEE 4264. Advanced Land Development Design (CEE 4284), taught entirely by industry leaders, achieved record enrollment. Graduate education also advanced, with the M.S. in Sustainable Land Development—launched in 2021—now enrolling nearly 20 students. The program hosted its third annual Bowman Distinguished Lecture, featuring Virginia Department of Environmental Quality Director Mike Rolband. Experiential learning and outreach flourished through two career mixers, an overnight Charlotte field trip, an internship workshop, product exhibitions and corporate recruiting days. Annual events included the 10th annual golf tournament and practitioner recognition gatherings in Virginia Beach, Richmond and Alexandria.
