Applying to Graduate School

Applications to the CEE Department’s graduate program are centralized by the Virginia Tech Graduate School. Apply here.

Admission for graduate study in CEE at Virginia Tech is granted by the Graduate School upon recommendation of the CEE Department through a faculty review committee. Admitted students normally have a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program, although that is not a requirement. Those without an engineering background, must complete background courses or show proficiency by prior coursework at the undergraduate level in certain fundamental areas such as math, science, engineering science and civil engineering. All CEE graduate students, regardless of their academic background, are expected to have proper prerequisite coursework to be successful in their graduate studies at Virginia Tech.

Information about required materials for our departmental programs may be found here.
