Q: What is the difference between a certificate and a degree program? Q: What materials do I need to apply? You will also need to submit a resume. International students require a TOEFL score.

Q: Can I transfer credit from another university to complete this certificate program? A: No, the VT Graduate School does not allow graduate transfer credit to satisfy graduate certificate requirements.

Q: How much does this certificate cost to complete? A:  This online 12-credit certificate program offers a one-rate per credit cost so that all students pay the same rate for each credit. Please consult the Bursar’s office for current rates for CEIP (look in the section of tuition called Graduate Program-Specific Tuition Rates) NOTE: All courses for this certificate are 3 credits each. Academic year 2022-2023 cost is $950 per credit hour (plus a technology and library fee).

Q: Do I have to have an engineering degree for admission?  A: This certificate is designed for applicants with an engineering bachelor’s degree. However, applicants with different backgrounds are welcome to apply but will need a level of math and engineering fundamental courses to be admitted.
