The Bowman Sustainable Land Development Program hosted its fourth annual summer celebration and practitioner recognition ceremony at Virginia Tech’s Academic Building One in Alexandria, drawing nearly 75 attendees from across the land development community.

The event celebrated members of the Land Development Design Industry (LDDI), whose partnerships with Virginia Tech serve as the industry engagement arm of the Bowman Sustainable Land Development Program. Numerous industry professionals and students were recognized across several award categories, including this year’s cohort of Bowman Scholars and Fellows.

A highlight of the event was a dynamic panel discussion on the Academic Building One project, moderated by LDDI Executive Board Chair Jessie Ponce de Leon. Panelists included the project’s developer, civil engineers, and architect, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the design and planning behind this high-profile development.

The evening wrapped with a guided tour of the cutting-edge facility, giving guests an inside view of the space shaping the future of engineering education in the D.C. area.
